Indifference by Another Name
Is Called A Politician
Indifference
by another name
is called a politician
most often they present themselves
as tricksters and magicians
they’ll say
they’ll perform this
they’ll say
they’ll give you that
but what they really have
is a wand and a rabbit in a top hat
it’s all done with mirrors
to trick you and me and if they do it well
it will leave us
trembling at the knees…
The magician
is indifferent to your daily plight
he’ll tell you quite plainly
it’s day
when you know damn well it’s night
he’ll build another tower
when the water you drink is sour
pay his consultant buddies double
when they haven’t worked an hour…
Indifference by another name
is called a politician
unless you have deep pockets
he cares not about the place you
and your children live in
because quite frankly
you don’t fit into his grandiose vision!
