Excuse Me, Did You Mistake My Vote As A Referendum For A Popularity Contest For You

Excuse Me, Did You Mistake My Vote
As A Referendum For A Popularity Contest
For You

You speak for me
not that I love you
you were better than the others
or at least I thought so…
but now
you speak for me
the politics
of the office has corrupted
you
and yet you still speak for me…
now you sound as if you
speak in tongues…
did you think I loved you
far from it…
decisions you make
are as if I spoke those words
myself…
my children depend on me
and I on you
you spoke for me
and now my words sound
as if they’ve erupted from a uncapped sewer
do you think I love you
more than I love myself that I’d let myself
become so foul…
and yet
you still speak for me that is until
your term runs out!
