Infrequent Liaison
Want you as a friend
of mine
in the worst kind of way
want to call you on the telephone
morning
noon
or night to tell you about my day…
want to laugh at your jokes
in the twilight of the day
none of that will happen
because
neither you or I can stay…
Want to whisper in your ear
tidbits
that will make us gay
laugh out loud
about foolishness
off the path that we have strayed
want to linger in your arms
in the comfort of where we lay
but time has passed so quickly
we must move
along our separate way…
Want you as a friend
of mine
in the worst kind of way
but
today you’re my hearts desire
my lover
and that too is ok…
